Sister Georgine Schweers

My life at St. Benedict Monastery has been filled with many blessings since I entered in September, 1957, shortly after I graduated from St. Benedict Academy.

I have participated in many ministries: as an elementary and secondary teacher and working in various capacities with the elderly. I found meaning and fulfillment in helping others. My math ability was put to good use in financial and business positions within my Benedictine Community and at St. Leo’s Parish in Pittsburgh.

I enjoy Pirate baseball and Steeler football. How great it is to get a ticket to one of the games! Music, crocheting, knitting, sewing, crossword puzzles, cards and reading are wonderful way to relax and still learn new things.

I thank God for calling me to this Benedictine way of life, a loving Benedictine family. It has been an exciting and rewarding experience and I look forward to more years serving God as a member of the Benedictine Sisters of Pittsburgh.
