Sister Karen Brink

The three pillars of Benedictine life are so very important to me. PRAYER sustains me, COMMUNITY supports me, and my MINISTRY allows me to proclaim the kingdom of God.

I came to the Community because of the Sisters who taught me in grade school, all of whom I loved very much. I don’t think I would be here if I hadn’t seen them so very devoted to their ministry. They were happy women.

Throughout my life as a Benedictine, I have been energized by sharing the good news of God’s kingdom among us. This message is the foundation of all my work as an educator in the Dioceses of Greensburg, PA, Pittsburgh, PA and Youngstown, Ohio. Education at all levels is my passion.

On April 24, 2021, my Benedictine Community called me to share my desire to proclaim the kingdom of God and my passion for education by re-electing me as their Prioress. As I reflect on my role in leadership within this Community during the next six years, I feel honored and privileged by the challenge that faces all of us.

Together, as the Benedictine Sisters of Pittsburgh, we will move forward. Together we will proclaim God’s reign in both new and old ways.

Together we are called to be a Benedictine Community living vibrantly in the 21st century. And while our “main address” is Bakerstown, our outreach goes far and beyond the confines of Richland Township. Where will the feet of our Community take us? Who will we meet? Where will we find the face of our God?

The story is ours to live…the story is ours to write.
