Alumnae Farewell Visits... Over the years, countless Benedictines Sisters of Pittsburgh have listened to myriads of fresh, young voices singing, “Times abiding finger writes mem’ries that linger, and the Sisters knew in their heart of hearts that their move from 4530 Perrysville Avenue -- where they have been located since 1928 -- to 3526 Bakerstown Road would be deeply emotional not only for themselves but also for the many alumnae who have called SBA home. So, in July and then again in October, the Sisters contacted almost 4000 alumnae from the graduating classes of 1935 through 1985 to ascertain the level of interest in returning to St. Benedict’s for Farewell Visits. Both the Sisters and the Alumnae/Faculty Task Force were delighted with the initial response of almost 800 alumnae. So they began planning in earnest. Four Farewell Visits have been scheduled for: 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm These are informal, open house events and alumnae are free to come on a day other than the one assigned to their class if that is more convenient. Recently, a beautiful, official invitation filled with important information was sent to all who responded to the initial contacts. The Sisters are expecting about 200 alumnae at each visit. Any alumna who did not receive the official invitation and who wants to attend may contact the Monastery and an invitation will be mailed immediately. The Sisters remember all their alumnae with prayer and fond love and look forward to seeing them at St. Benedict’s this spring and then again at the new St. Benedict’s some time in 2013. Loyal ones, praise today, Alma Mater, S.B.A. Sincere thanks to the Alumnae/Faculty Task Force who have made all this possible. • Micki Stack Cloonan ’69
