Meet the sisters [view all sisters]

Sister Rose Budicky
I was born and raised in Carrolltown, PA where I experienced Benedictine life. I was part of St. Benedict Church (staffed by Benedictine Monks of St. Vincent Archabbey); attended St. Benedict Catholic School and experienced the work and prayer of our Benedictine Sisters who lived in the first “Motherhouse” of our community.
I had an older sister who belonged to our community (Sister Magdalen) but she had entered religious life before I was born! I attended the local public high school and in my senior year started to work at our local town bank on Saturdays. After finishing high school I continued working at the bank fulltime for 6 ½ years before entering the Benedictine Sisters of Pittsburgh in 1951.
I taught grade school classes for 2 years before starting to teach Business Classes at our St. Benedict Academy. I worked part-time in the community Business Office for a time until in 1973 I began taking care of the community investment portfolio full time and continued until 2001. I served as Treasurer of the community and academy for 12 years and then returned to part-time work in the Business Office.
My “Business Career” continues in Religious Life, sustained by daily Mass and the Divine Office and strengthened by the experience of daily Community Life. |
