Meet the sisters   [view all sisters]

Sister Norma Weigand

I was taught by the Benedictine Sisters through elementary and high school. When I was a first grader one of the sisters had dolls dressed in the various stages of becoming a Benedictine Sister and talked to us about it. I feel that had to be my first inclination of being one of them. Toward the end of my junior year in high school our homeroom teacher gave us a survey to fill out. One of the things she wanted us to answer was about what we were thinking of doing after we finished high school. I indicated that I wanted to be a Benedictine Sister. Shortly after that, I was introduced to the Prioress and I entered the Community before my senior year began.

The sister who was in charge of us after we entered the community was very helpful in teaching us what we needed to know about Prayer and Community Life. I was involved in elementary education for 48 years including 8 years as a Principal. Then I served as Site Manager for Meals on Wheels and Director of the Nutrition Center at the Benedictine Senior Center. In 2005, I celebrated my Golden Jubilee of profession. As a Benedictine Sister, my life is filled with many joys and blessings as I pray and work according to the Rule of St. Benedict.
