Sister Julia Makowski

A little bit of me is in the following statement: “God writes straight with crooked lines.”! From one who was “never going to be a nun” and who turned down two marriage proposals I have already celebrated 60 years of vowed life in this Benedictine Community!

During these year I have been a teacher, principal, novice directress and Sub-Prioress and at present a parish secretary, bookkeeper and office manager. It’s been a rather full life, I’d say, and an abundantly blest one as well!

I treasure my prayer life, my life in community and those whom God has chosen to help me become fashioned into the being that from all eternity I was destined to be.

Would I recommend it for anyone being called to serve the church as a religious sister and who is serious about following what seems to be her vocation? I unhesitatingly would say, “Come try it” and experience the blessing that awaits you!
