Meet the sisters [view all sisters]

Sister Alice Rock
I knew God called me to religious life when I was in 4th grade. The desire continued and strengthened as I matured. When I was almost 18, after convincing my father, I entered the Benedictine Sisters of Pittsburgh. I became a teacher and spent 20 years teaching. My other ministries have included sharing in administration as part of the Formation Team and being the community Procurator (the person who takes care of the day to day needs of the buildings and grounds as well as purchasing supplies for the sisters). I have been a staff member of Mercy Intellectual Disabilities Services for many years. It is very rewarding and I learn so much from our clients.
I appreciate and love our prayer life and liturgies. This is the power charge of my life. I have assisted several older persons in their lives’ last days and continue to do so. I have loved every day of my life as a religious and thank God daily for the health and happiness I have enjoyed these last 57 years. |
