Sister Joann Hothersall makes her Monastic Profession

After 33 years as a Sister of Our Lady of Charity, Sister Joann came to stay at St. Benedict Monastery when their convent was damaged in a rain storm. While waiting for the damage to be repaired, she felt called to join the Benedictine Sisters of Pittsburgh and began the three year process to become a fully professed member. The process was complete and she professed Monastic Vows on September 26, 2010.

Sister Joann grew-up in Queens, New York in a family of five children. Her deep devotion to prayer and community led her to religious life, and to the door of the Benedictine Sisters of Pittsburgh even before she moved in because of the rain storm. She cites the image from Benedict's Rule of "listening with the ear of your heart as one of her favorite quotes. Sister Joann's ministry is sharing her love and professional skills with adults with disabilities in residential and professional settings.
